White Rose Canoe Club Pool sessions are held on Saturday evenings during the winter and early spring at Fearnville Sports Centre, LS8 3LF in Leeds.
Please note that due to COVID restrictions this year this may not be the case.
(We are currently trying to assess when/if the pool will be opened)
Non-members who are experienced paddlers are welcome to come along to pool sessions, but members pay a reduced rate so the sooner you join the club the sooner you save!
Beginners are welcome but please contact us in advance for a Come and Try session. If you would like to paddle with the club after this we ask that you become a member.
There is no age restriction, but you must be able to swim 50 metres or, if disabled, be happy to go underwater. Young people will need the permission of their parents or guardians to attend pool sessions. We ask that parents stay on site during the session. For safety reasons, we also ask that you advise the club if you suffer from any medical condition that we should be aware of.
Usually the Session runs as follows:
16:30-17:30 The changing room is available from 16:15
The current charges for pool sessions are :
£5 for non-members and Come & Try sessions
£4 for adult members
£3 for junior members
When you arrive at the Sports Centre, do not pay at reception. There will be a member of White Rose Canoe Club in the foyer to take your membership card and money. If you are not a club member or have forgotten your membership card, you will need to sign a non-members sheet.
For pool sessions you only need to wear a swimming costume, but you may also wish to wear shorts and a t-shirt. All other equipment is provided, the wearing of a helmet in the pool is compulsory at all times.
You may bring your own equipment to pool sessions if you wish, but this must be clean. Boats should be brought into the pool via the emergency exit at the side of the building near the bowling club. The Sports Centre will then expect you to clean your boat with the disinfectant provided.
